Things to remember:

Above exams concern regular obligatory lectures. About final tests/exams/assignments for 1) obligatory workshops/labs/seminars, 2) some of the blocked courses (even obligatory ones), 3) electives and 4) specialization courses you should ask instructors of these courses directly.

If a student is ill on the day of the exam, he/she needs to let the office and the instructor know, by phone or preferably by email on the day of the exam at the latest. Then, the student needs to show a doctor’s note proving that he/she was ill on the day of the exam (if you already have it on the day of the exam, you can scan it or make a photo of it and attach to the email). Very important: the doctor’s note cannot be written on the prescription form (in Polish: ‘recepta’), but on a proper certificate form (in Polish: ‘zaswiadczenie lekarskie’). Doctor’s notes written on ‘recepta’ will not be accepted! If you are ill on the exam day and not inform us, you will lose this term.

The make-up session after the spring semester 2014/15 is going to take place on 31 Aug – 13 Sep 2015. During the make-up session it will be possible to make up only obligatory lectures and only students who failed the first term or were absent during the first term will be able to take a given make-up exam. The exams will be planned between 31 Aug and 13 Sep and not before and not after. Please take that into account when planning anything at the time of the make-up session.

Students of Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 should remember that they need to obtain: a grade from the empirical paper (Year 3), a ‘pass’ from Master’s seminar (Year 4) or a grade after the last semester of the Master’s seminar (Year 5) till the end of the June session.

Empirical Paper (Year 3): to get a grade, you need to prepare the whole paper. You should be finishing it right now. Your tutor will need time to read it and find an appropriate reviewer. You need to remember to bring a CD (with your paper as a doc file) to the office (to Ms. Aleksandra) in June so that it could be scanned with the antiplagiarism program. Only then your grade could be treated final. The Dean may prolong the deadline till the September make-up session ONLY in exceptional situations and this is confirmed by the tutor on your request. The request needs to be submitted till the end of May.

Master’s Thesis: to get a pass after the 2nd semester (4th year), you need to prepare a detailed plan of your research. This is minimum requirement and your tutor may ask you for more if they wish. To get a grade after the 4th semester (5th year), you need to prepare your final thesis. Here is a guide on what to do when you’re finishing your studies.

If you go to your tutor on the last day of the session for the first time, you will probably not be given any pass/grade. Failing your empirical paper or Master’s seminar means a conditional pass (= extra payment!). 5th-year Students could ask for a prolongation though. Contact Ms. Maria for more details.
