Trust and Perceptions of Trustworthiness: a cross-cultural comparison of the United States and Poland

Room 1

Dear Students,

You are invited to take part in the meeting with Adam Stivers from University of Delaware who, within the cycle of Scientific Tuesdays meetings, will talk about trust and perception of trustworthiness.

Summary:  World Values Survey data shows that Polish people are significantly more likely to agree that 'You can never be too careful' rather than 'Most people can be trusted.' when compared to the United States and many other developed countries.  The current research program seeks to understand why this difference exists and if this difference may be misleading with regards to different types of trust.  I propose a distinction between moral and contractual trust and report preliminary evidence as part of an ongoing multi-method research program to fully investigate these differences.

Where and when: Tue, 21 Jan, 15:15, room 1

Scientific Tuesdays are open, free-of-charge meetings. Everybody can participate!
